Stablecoin Quote Pairs: How to Read the Number Before a Swap
A pair quoted in a stablecoin shows the token's price in that stablecoin, not in dollars. Usually the same; occasionally not.
Short answer
When a pool pairs a token with a stablecoin (USDC, USDT or others), the displayed price is in units of that stablecoin. If the stablecoin trades at $1.00, the USD price matches; if it trades at a discount or is a bridged version, the USD value differs. Before a swap, confirm which stablecoin (by address), whether it is native or bridged, its current price against USD, and the pool's liquidity in that stablecoin.
What the number means
| Reading | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| Stablecoin ≈ $1.00 | Price ≈ USD price |
| Stablecoin below $1 | Token USD price lower than shown |
| Bridged version | Different token, different risk |
| Several stable pools | Compare by address |

Example
Illustrative: a token shows 2.00 in pool A (native USDC) and 2.00 in pool B (a bridged stablecoin trading at $0.985). Pool B's USD price is ≈ $1.97.

Sources and methodology
DEX Screener behaviour comes from its official documentation; pool and token concepts from CoinGecko, Uniswap, Raydium and Solana documentation, as read on 17 October 2026. Examples use illustrative numbers and do not refer to any real token. Nothing here is a recommendation to trade any token.
