DEX Screener Boosts vs Organic Activity: What the Badge Means

Boosts are paid. Organic activity is what traders actually do. Separating them tells you whether attention is bought or earned.

Short answer

A DEX Screener boost badge shows that boosts have been purchased: they temporarily multiply a token's Trending Score for 12 to 24 hours and are non-refundable. Organic activity is the market behaviour underneath: volume, transactions, unique makers, holders and liquidity, which DEX Screener's trending also uses. To separate them, compare activity before and during boosts, and check whether makers and liquidity grow or only visibility does.

What to watch after boosts expire

Boost packs last 12 to 24 hours. Check the token's makers, transactions and liquidity in the day after the last boost expires. Sustained participation suggests real interest; a rapid drop suggests the attention was mostly paid.

Record boost timing in your notes so you can attribute changes correctly.

Recording attention properly

Keep a simple log for tokens you follow: date, boost count, unique makers per hour, liquidity and holder count. Take a reading before boosts, during and the day after. Three readings are enough to see whether paid attention converted into participation.

If makers rise during boosts and stay higher afterwards, the token found real interest. If makers rise briefly and fall back, the boost bought a moment. If makers never rise, the boost bought only a ranking. Each pattern is useful information, and none of them says anything about contract safety, which still needs its own checks.

Avoid treating the badge itself as a reason to act. Many traders see the same badge at the same time; acting on it means competing with them for the same thin liquidity.

Sources and methodology

DEX Screener behaviour comes from its official documentation; pool and token concepts from CoinGecko, Uniswap, Raydium and Solana documentation, as read on 17 October 2026. Examples use illustrative numbers and do not refer to any real token. Nothing here is a recommendation to trade any token.
