ChartsPod Cumulative Volume Delta: Settings to Check Before Your First Analysis
Cumulative volume delta adds up buy-aggressor minus sell-aggressor volume. Its anchor and data source decide what the line means.
Short answer
ChartsPod lists CVD among its order-flow tools. Before analysis, check the venue, whether delta is built from actual trades (exact side) or estimated, the reset anchor (session, day or none), the unit, and whether spot and perp are separate. A CVD that resets daily can't be compared with one that never resets. Compare CVD with price: divergence is a question, not a signal.
What it shows
ChartsPod's public pages list this tool.
| Element | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Delta per bar | Buy-aggressor − sell-aggressor volume |
| CVD | Running sum from the anchor |
| Anchor | Where the sum restarts |
| Source | Trades or estimate |
Settings to check first
Common first-session mistakes:
- Comparing CVDs with different anchors
- Mixing spot and perp
- Reading divergence as a signal
Worked example
Illustrative: price makes a higher high while daily-anchored CVD is lower than at the earlier high. Before reading it, check that both highs are in the same anchor period — if a reset happened between them, the comparison is meaningless.
