Why DEX Screener and GeckoTerminal Show Different Token Prices
Two reputable DEX tools showing different prices for the same token is normal. The causes are few and checkable.
Short answer
DEX Screener and GeckoTerminal show different token prices mainly because they headline different pools, quote the price in different tokens before converting to USD, take the USD conversion at slightly different moments, or update at different times. Each builds data from its own indexing. Compare the same pool address in both, in the same unit, at the same timestamp; remaining differences are usually small and short-lived.
Five causes
| Cause | Check |
|---|---|
| Different headline pool | Compare pool addresses |
| Different quote token | USDC vs SOL vs WETH |
| USD conversion timing | Quote asset price at snapshot |
| Update timing | Compare timestamps |
| Different token (impostor) | Compare token addresses |

The remaining 0.0002 difference reflects a few seconds of update timing.
A habit that prevents confusion
When you note a token price anywhere, write the pool address (or at least DEX and quote token) and the time. "0.1020 USD, token/USDC pool on DEX A, 14:05 UTC" can be reconciled with any other source; "0.10" cannot.
If you track a token across tools, configure each tool to the same pool where possible.
Timing differences in fast markets
During fast moves, tools refresh at different intervals and convert to USD using quote-asset prices taken at slightly different moments. A difference of a percent or two for a few seconds is normal. If you need a precise price for a decision, use the pool's own quote in the swap interface at that moment, not a chart's last value.
When differences persist
Persistent large gaps between pools of the same token indicate fragmented liquidity or blocked arbitrage. That is a trading risk in itself. See How to Compare Two Liquidity Pools for the Same Token and DEX Screener vs GeckoTerminal: Which Pool Data Should You Use?.

Which price is correct?
Each is correct for its pool and unit; match them before comparing.
Why do prices differ by a few percent?
Usually different pools or quote tokens.
Is a persistent gap an opportunity?
Possibly, but often reflects thin liquidity or transfer frictions; check depth.
Sources and methodology
DEX Screener behaviour comes from its official documentation; pool and token concepts from CoinGecko, Uniswap, Raydium and Solana documentation, as read on 17 October 2026. Examples use illustrative numbers and do not refer to any real token. Nothing here is a recommendation to trade any token.
- DEX Screener documentation — data from DEX Screener's own chain indexers.
- CoinGecko API: Top pools by token address — multiple pools per token.
- CoinGecko API: Onchain OHLCV WebSocket — pool candles, base/quote selection, nullable fields.
