RSI Trend Continuation Backtest in Crypto: Fees, Slippage and Break-Even Costs

Trend-continuation RSI rules buy strength, not weakness. Fewer trades and larger wins change the cost picture compared with mean reversion.

Short answer

An RSI trend-continuation strategy (e.g. enter when RSI(14) crosses back above 50 or 60 in an uptrend, exit when it falls below a lower threshold) trades less often and relies on a minority of large winners. Costs are a smaller share of each trade, but missing the few big trends, or entering late at breakout prices with slippage, can erase the edge. Calculate break-even cost, check how much profit comes from the top 10% of trades, and test with next-bar fills.
