Ichimoku Cloud in Crypto: Why the Value Changes Before Candle Close

Ichimoku's lines use highs and lows over 9, 26 and 52 bars, and the cloud is plotted 26 bars ahead. The live bar changes values that appear in the future.

Short answer

Tenkan = (9-bar high + low) ÷ 2, Kijun = (26-bar high + low) ÷ 2, Senkou A = (Tenkan + Kijun) ÷ 2 and Senkou B = (52-bar high + low) ÷ 2, both plotted 26 bars ahead; Chikou is the close plotted 26 bars back. On the live bar, a new high or low can change Tenkan, Kijun and the newest cloud point drawn 26 bars ahead, and the latest Chikou point moves with price. These lines only change when an extreme prints. Read signals on closed bars.

Midpoint-based lines move in steps, not smoothly, so Ichimoku can look still for a long time and then jump on a single new extreme.
