DEX Screener on Solana: Read a Token Pair Without Confusing the Mint
A Solana pair page shows two tokens, a pair address and a mint address. Mixing them up leads to the wrong chart, the wrong token in your wallet or the wrong pool for your swap.
Short answer
On a Solana pair page in DEX Screener, three identifiers matter: the base token's mint address (the token itself), the quote token's mint (often SOL or USDC), and the pair address (the specific pool). The mint identifies what you are buying; the pair address identifies where it trades. Copy the base mint from the pair page, confirm it on a Solana explorer and against the project's official channel, and never paste the pair address into a wallet as if it were the token.
Three identifiers on one page
DEX Screener's search accepts token addresses and pair addresses, and its API separates token lookups from pair lookups. On Solana the token address is the mint, the account Solana's documentation describes as holding supply, decimals, mint authority and freeze authority.
| Identifier | What it is | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Base mint | The token being priced | Identity, wallet, explorer checks |
| Quote mint | The unit (e.g. SOL, USDC) | Reading the price unit |
| Pair address | One liquidity pool | Chart, liquidity, trades |

Launch ChartsPodThree common confusions
Pair address pasted as a token
A pool address is not a mint. Wallets and explorers will show something unrelated or nothing at all.
Quote token mistaken for base
In a SOL-quoted pair, SOL's mint also appears on the page. Make sure you copy the base token's mint.
Impostor mint with the same name
Names, symbols and logos are copied freely. Only the mint address is unique.
Verifying the mint
Authority checks are covered in Solana Mint and Freeze Authority: What to Check Before a Swap; finding a token by mint in How to Find a Solana Token by Mint Address, Not Ticker.
Example: a mistaken wallet entry
Illustrative: a trader copies the address shown at the top of a pair page into their wallet's 'add token' field. The wallet shows an unknown account with no balance. The address was the pair, not the mint. Copying the base token's mint from the pair's token section shows the correct balance immediately.
Most pair pages show both addresses close together. Label them in your notes as 'mint' and 'pair' so the next lookup is quick and unambiguous.
Then choose the pool
A mint can trade in many pools across Solana DEXs, with SOL or stablecoin quotes, constant-product or concentrated liquidity. Search the mint, list its pairs and pick the one with the depth and quote token you need. Record its pair address beside the mint in your notes. Use the mint for identity and the pair address for the market, and verify the mint before anything else.

Open the ChartsPod terminalQuestions readers ask
Is the pair address the token address?
No. On Solana the token address is the mint; the pair address identifies a pool.
Which address do I add to my wallet?
The base token's mint address.
Why does SOL's address appear on the pair page?
SOL is the quote token in SOL-quoted pairs.
Sources and methodology
DEX Screener behaviour comes from its official documentation; pool and token concepts from CoinGecko, Uniswap, Raydium and Solana documentation, as read on 17 October 2026. Examples use illustrative numbers and do not refer to any real token. Nothing here is a recommendation to trade any token.

- DEX Screener: Token listing — listing after first liquidity and trade; supply inputs.
- DEX Screener: API reference — token and pair endpoints, nullable fields, rate limits.
