DEX Route Splitting: How to Read the Number Before a Swap

Aggregators split a swap across several pools to reduce price impact. Each extra hop and pool adds fees and gas — the quote should show both.

Short answer

Route splitting sends parts of a swap through different pools or multi-hop paths to reduce total price impact. A $50,000 swap might go 60% through a deep 0.3% pool and 40% through a 0.05% pool, or via an intermediate token. Before a swap, check the route: pools used, fee per hop, total quoted impact, gas, and minimum received. A split that saves impact can still cost more if it adds several hops on an expensive chain.
