DEX Exit-Liquidity Estimates: How to Read the Number Before a Swap

Exit liquidity is how much you can sell before price impact becomes unacceptable. Estimating it before buying sets a sensible position size.

Short answer

An exit-liquidity estimate asks: how large a sell can this pool absorb within an impact limit (say 2%)? In a constant-product pool, selling an amount worth about 1.7% of one side's reserve costs roughly 2% including the 0.3% fee; 1% of a side costs about 1.3%. Concentrated pools differ — use the quoted impact at your size. Before buying, compute the maximum exit within your limit and size below it, remembering liquidity can fall before you sell.

Example

Illustrative: in a $500k pool ($250k per side), selling about $2,500 worth moves price ≈ 1.3% including fee; $5,000 ≈ 2.3%. Plan position size from that.

Sources and methodology

DEX Screener behaviour comes from its official documentation; pool and token concepts from CoinGecko, Uniswap, Raydium and Solana documentation, as read on 17 October 2026. Examples use illustrative numbers and do not refer to any real token. Nothing here is a recommendation to trade any token.

  1. Uniswap: Concentrated liquidity — active liquidity within price ranges.
  2. CoinGecko onchain API: Top pools by token address (pool schema) — pool fields and nullability (fdv_usd, market_cap_usd, reserve_in_usd).
