DEX Exit-Depth Planning: A Worked Crypto Example With Fees Included
On a DEX, exit cost depends on pool depth at your size. Planning the exit before buying shows how much of the position you can realistically sell.
Short answer
In a constant-product pool holding 2,000,000 TOKEN and 100 ETH (price 0.00005 ETH), selling 50,000 TOKEN after a 0.3% fee returns ≈ 2.432 ETH instead of 2.5 ETH at the quoted price — about 2.7% less. Selling 200,000 TOKEN returns ≈ 9.07 ETH instead of 10 ETH — about 9.3% less. Plan entry size from the exit you can afford, and re-check depth before selling, since liquidity can leave the pool.
Worked example
| Step | Value |
|---|---|
| Pool | 2,000,000 TOKEN / 100 ETH |
| Quoted price | 0.00005 ETH |
| Sell 50k TOKEN | ≈ 2.432 ETH (−2.7%) |
| Sell 200k TOKEN | ≈ 9.066 ETH (−9.3%) |
| Fee | 0.3% of input |
| Plus | Gas, token taxes |
Planning
Worked: out = 100 × 49,850 ÷ (2,000,000 + 49,850) ≈ 2.432 ETH.

Sources and methodology
Arithmetic uses standard sizing formulas. Fee rates (0.05% taker, 0.02% maker), slippage and funding values are illustrative; check your venue's schedule. Liquidation figures are simplified approximations; exchanges calculate them with their own maintenance-margin rules (see Bybit's documentation).
