ChartsPod Long-Short Positioning Panel: Settings to Check Before Your First Analysis
ChartsPod lists positioning data among its derivatives tools. Long/short ratios have several definitions; the panel's label tells you which.
Short answer
Binance alone publishes several ratios: global long/short account ratio, top-trader account ratio (top 20% by margin) and top-trader position ratio, kept for about 30 days. Before reading a positioning panel, check which ratio it shows, whether it counts accounts or position size, the venue, and the period. A high account ratio can coexist with a balanced position ratio when many small accounts are long.

Settings to check first
Common first-session mistakes:
- Treating account ratio as position size
- Comparing venues with different definitions
- Using it as a signal alone
Worked example
Illustrative: the global account ratio shows 2.1 (many accounts long) while the top-trader position ratio is 0.95 — large traders were roughly balanced.
