ChartsPod Drawing Alerts: Trend Lines, Zones and Confirmation Bars

A trend line or zone becomes useful when price interacts with it. Alerts tied to drawings tell you when, and confirmation bars tell you whether it counted.

Short answer

Use drawing-based alerts in ChartsPod by drawing the trend line or zone deliberately (anchored to clear swing points), choosing whether the alert should fire on touch or on a bar close beyond the drawing, and deciding how many confirmation bars must close beyond it before you act. Trend lines move with time, so a horizontal-price alert is not equivalent. Check which drawing alert options the alerts panel offers, and redraw rather than nudge lines after the fact.

Reviewing drawing alerts

Every week, review which drawing alerts fired, which led to action and which were noise. Remove alerts on drawings that no longer reflect structure. Keep a screenshot of each drawing at the time you created it so you can see later whether you redrew it to fit price.

Example: a zone alert

Illustrative: a zone between 61,200 and 61,600 has rejected price three times on the 4-hour chart. A touch alert at 61,200 warns that price is entering the zone. A confirmation rule requires two 1-hour closes above 61,600 before treating it as a breakout. In one week, the touch alert fires twice and the confirmation once; only the confirmed break led to follow-through.

Questions readers ask

Is a trend-line alert the same as a price alert?

No; a trend line's value changes over time.

How many confirmation bars should I use?

One or two closes beyond is common; more reduces false breaks but delays.

Should I adjust a line after price touches it?

No; redraw with new anchors if structure changed.
