Williams Percent R in Crypto: Warm-Up Bars and Short-History Errors

Williams %R uses the highest high and lowest low of N bars. It's exact once the window fills; the risk on short histories is a window dominated by a launch move.

Short answer

Williams %R(14) needs 14 bars and is window-based, so values are exact after that. On short histories the high-low range may be set by a launch spike or dump, pinning %R near −100 or 0 for the first weeks even if price is stable. Mark the first valid bar, check whether launch extremes are in the window, and don't treat early oversold readings as signals.
