Order Flow at Value-Area Low in Crypto: What Price Response Adds to the Reading
At the value-area low, sellers test the bottom of accepted value. Flow and response distinguish a defended low from a shift lower.
Short answer
At the prior session's value-area low (VAL), check aggressive selling, bid absorption or pulls and OI change. Acceptance below with OI rising suggests value moving down; selling absorbed with a return inside suggests a defended edge and possible rotation toward the POC. Combine with liquidation data on perps, since forced selling at VAL can exaggerate tests.
Possible price responses
| Price response | Reading |
|---|---|
| Accepted below | Value shifting down |
| Absorbed selling, reclaim | Defended edge |
| Liquidations at VAL | Forced flow |
| Bids pulled | Weak support |
Measuring the response
Use the same acceptance definition as for VAH; record delta, liquidations and OI; measure reclaim and POC-rotation rates.
Example
Illustrative: −220 BTC delta at the VAL, bids refilled, price reclaimed value within 15 minutes. Log failed defences too.
