Options Bid-Ask Spread Costs in Crypto: How to Read the Data With Price Context

Options spreads are wide relative to their price, especially far from the money. Crossing them can cost more than any fee.

Short answer

An option's bid-ask spread is often a large share of its price. A call quoted 0.030 bid / 0.034 ask BTC (mid 0.032) costs 12.5% of mid to buy and sell back immediately. Far-out strikes may have no bid at all (Deribit returns null). Before trading, compare spread with expected move, prefer liquid strikes and expiries, and use limit orders near mid where possible.
