One-Hour vs Eight-Hour Funding: Units and Time Windows That Change the Result

Some venues settle funding hourly, others every 8 hours (or 4). Comparing raw numbers across intervals is the most common funding mistake.

Hyperliquid pays funding hourly at one-eighth of the computed 8-hour rate; many Binance contracts settle every 8 hours, and some symbols use 4 hours (fundingIntervalHours). A Hyperliquid hourly 0.00125% equals 0.01% per 8 hours. Convert all rates to the same interval before comparing, and sum hourly settlements over the same window as an 8-hour one when computing cost.
