GeckoTerminal for CVD Data Quality: What It Can and Cannot Cover

DEX swaps have a clear direction — someone bought or sold the token — so delta is meaningful onchain. GeckoTerminal provides the trades and candles, not a CVD tool for CEX markets.

Short answer

Onchain swaps record which token went in and which came out, so each trade's side is known, making delta-style analysis possible for DEX pools. CoinGecko's onchain API (GeckoTerminal data) provides recent trades by pool and pool OHLCV; summing buy minus sell volume from trades gives a pool-level delta you build yourself. It covers DEX pools only — not CEX order flow, funding or OI. ChartsPod's CVD covers Binance, Bybit, OKX and Hyperliquid markets.

Limits

Recent-trades endpoints return a limited window; a long CVD needs you to store trades over time. Different pools of the same token give different deltas.
