DEX Token Security Scores: How to Read the Number Before a Swap
Token security scores summarise automated checks into one number. The checks behind it matter more than the score.
Short answer
Security scores from scanners combine checks such as mint and freeze authority, contract verification, ownership, liquidity locks, holder concentration and honeypot simulation. Different scanners weight these differently and can miss new risks, so the same token can score high on one and low on another. Before a swap, open the checks behind the score, confirm the critical ones yourself (authorities, sellability, liquidity control) and treat the score as a starting point.
What the number means
| Reading | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| High score | Passed the scanner's checks |
| Low score | Failed one or more |
| Different scanners differ | Different weights |
| New risk types | May be missed |

Example
Illustrative: a token scores 85/100 because its contract is verified and liquidity locked, but an active mint authority — weighted lightly — means supply can grow at any time.

Sources and methodology
DEX Screener behaviour comes from its official documentation; pool and token concepts from CoinGecko, Uniswap, Raydium and Solana documentation, as read on 17 October 2026. Examples use illustrative numbers and do not refer to any real token. Nothing here is a recommendation to trade any token.
- Solana: Assets on Solana (tokens) — mint accounts, supply, decimals, mint and freeze authority.
- DEX Screener: API reference — token and pair endpoints, nullable fields, rate limits.
