DEX Net Buying: How to Read the Number Before a Swap

Net buying compares buy and sell activity in a pool. Counts, unique wallets and volume can tell three different stories.

Short answer

DEX data often splits transactions into buys and sells, and CoinGecko's pool data also gives buyers and sellers (unique wallets) per window. Net buying in counts (buys − sells), in wallets (buyers − sellers) and in volume can disagree: many small buys and a few large sells show positive counts but negative volume. Before a swap, check all three over the same window and see whether one wallet dominates.

Sources and methodology

DEX Screener behaviour comes from its official documentation; pool and token concepts from CoinGecko, Uniswap, Raydium and Solana documentation, as read on 17 October 2026. Examples use illustrative numbers and do not refer to any real token. Nothing here is a recommendation to trade any token.

  1. CoinGecko API: New pools by network — m5–h24 transactions with buys, sells, buyers, sellers.
  2. DEX Screener: API reference — token and pair endpoints, nullable fields, rate limits.
