Crypto Screener Snapshots: Event Time vs Retrieval Time
A screener snapshot evaluates many symbols, each at a slightly different time. One snapshot time on the result hides that spread.
Short answer
Screeners compute conditions per symbol from the latest data available at evaluation; with many symbols, evaluation can span seconds to minutes, and some inputs (e.g. funding, OI) update less often than price. Record the snapshot start and end, the bar each indicator used (closed or live), and per-input update times where available. Compare snapshots only when their bar basis matches.
Which times the data carries
| Time | Present? | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Snapshot start/end | Your log | Evaluation span |
| Indicator bar | Closed / live | Stability |
| Input update times | Varies | Mixed freshness |
| Universe date | Your log | Listings change |

Example
Illustrative: a screen evaluated over 48 seconds caught some coins before and some after a 1% market move, so 'relative strength' rankings mixed two moments.

Field definitions come from DEX Screener's API reference and CoinGecko's onchain API documentation, read 17 October 2026. Where a schema doesn't document a timestamp, this guide says so and recommends recording retrieval time yourself.
