ChartsPod Footprint Volume View: Settings to Check Before Your First Analysis
A volume footprint shows total traded volume at each price inside each candle. It's the simplest view and the easiest to misread when rows or units change.
Short answer
A volume-view footprint shows total volume traded at each price row within each candle, without splitting buyers and sellers. Before analysis, check the venue and contract, row size in ticks, the volume unit (contracts, coins or quote value), whether the highest-volume row per candle is highlighted, and that the live candle is unfinished. Use it to see where trading concentrated inside candles; switch to bid×ask or delta views to see who was aggressive.
What it shows
| Element | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Row | Fixed price bucket |
| Number | Total volume traded there |
| Highlighted row | Candle's highest-volume price (candle POC) |
| Colour intensity | Relative volume (scale-dependent) |

Worked example
Illustrative: a 5-minute candle with $20 rows shows 48 BTC at 60,020 and under 15 BTC elsewhere. The market accepted 60,020; whether buyers or sellers drove it needs the bid×ask or delta view.
