AI Crypto News Research: How to Check Timestamps Before Trusting the Answer
News answers mix three clocks: when something happened, when it was reported and when the AI retrieved it. Each matters for whether price already reacted.
Short answer
Before trusting an AI news answer, require the event time (when it happened), the publication time of the primary source, the time the AI retrieved it, and the price window used for any 'reaction'. Check whether price moved before publication, whether the story was updated after the first version, and whether the AI is summarising a later rewrite. Reject answers that give only a date, or that measure reaction without a pre-news baseline.
Timestamps the answer must carry
| Value | Timestamp to require | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Event time | When it happened | Causality |
| Publication time | Primary source | Market's first access |
| Retrieval time | When the AI read it | Possible later edits |
| Reaction window | Start and end | Baseline |
Checks before trusting it
Worked example
Illustrative: the AI summarised an 11:15 update that added details not in the 10:40 report. Price had reacted at 10:40; attributing the move to the later details reverses cause and effect.
