Aggregated vs Single-Exchange Open Interest in Crypto: Units and Time Windows That Change the Result

Aggregated OI sums several exchanges; single-venue OI shows one. Coverage and timing differences can make the aggregate move when no single venue does.

Short answer

Aggregated OI combines venues, sometimes mixing contract types (linear, inverse) and units. A change in the aggregate can come from one venue, from a venue being added or dropped, or from price revaluing inverse contracts. Before reading it, list the venues included, convert to one unit, check each venue's update time, and decompose the change by venue. Single-venue OI is cleaner for linking to that venue's price.
